I make all my own bread—haven’t bought a commercial loaf from a grocery store since 1973. I first heard about Weisenberger in 1985, when we lived in Lexington; and have used no other flour during 5 years in Lexington, 20 years in Cincinnati, and now 16 years in Bristol, VA. Driving down from Cinti was never a problem; but here in Bristol we’re a bit further away, so we always stocked up when visiting Cinti friends or asking them to stop in Midway en route when they visited us. Now at age 76, we’ve lost some friends, and others can’t make the drive to visit us as often. So … I tried a few times to make do with quality flour I could buy locally— King Arthur, Bob’s Red Mill. Etc. They just don’t measure up! So I now drive up to Midway to stock up as needed. I make bread as Christmas presents for church choir & staff; friends, and Meals on Wheels. All those people deserve the best I can make, and that means Weisenberger flour. Please, please never close. I look forward to continuing to bake into my 80s, and only the best flour will do.
